Retro 2009 Exclusive Cherry Blossom Fountain Pen
We are thrilled to introduce our new 80th Anniversary Cherry Blossom writing instruments for 2009, designed and produced exclusively for Fahrney’s by Retro 51. Each year we present a Special Edition pen commemorating the annual cherry blossom celebration in our Nation’s Capital. For our fourth collection, we chose a postage stamp theme that echoes the motifs of our past pens: the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol, plus a new design of Fahrney’s downtown DC storefront. Each one is an exclusive re-creation by Retro 51 based on authentic stamps from the 1950’s-80’s. The stamps are individually
hand-applied to each pen, then lacquered to a high-gloss finish. The painstaking process ensures that no two pens are exactly alike, adding to their limited production mystique. You’ll see the entire Fahrney’s store stamp wrapped around each Retro Tornado-style pen and one other whole landmark stamp depending on the mode; the Jefferson Memorial is on the fountain pen with iridium-tipped, stainless steel nib; U.S. Capitol on the capless, twist-top convertible rollerball/ball pen; and the Washington Monument on the front-loading, 1.15mm pencil with large eraser.
