As a tribute to its historical roots, Montegrappa has created the Roma Aeterna Limited Edition pen to commemorate Italy’s glorious past. One of the principal inspirations for the pen’s details is the ancient city of Pompeii, which was frozen in time by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 AD and buried under ash: the particular red resin of the Roma Aeterna pen is inspired by the famous Pompeii red of the Villa dei Misteri. The low-relief engraved cap has details taken from the mosaics and stuccowork of some of the more prominent residences. The barrel returns to the capital, Rome, to find a sterling silver, low-relief engraved image of the Arch of Septimius Severus, built in 203 AD and positioned at the Roman forum’s northeastern edge. Meanwhile on the other side of the barrel there is an engraving of the sixth century BC Temple of Saturn that rises from the western edge of the forum. The Roma Aeterna sterling silver fountain pen is limited to 700 pieces world-wide. Each pen’s finishing parts are made of precious resin in an exclusive Pompeii red color. The 18K, two-tone nibs are available in fine, medium or broad. The pens are piston-filled and their ebonite feeder system ensures constant ink flow.
