At the base of the barrel on the hot enamel and sterling silver pen are roots, meant to conjure the past. The bark pattern suggests the present and the fruit is what we make of our lives. The clip is reminiscent of a walking stick, symbolic of our journey through life. A flower of life, a geometrical shape with strong spiritual undertones, is on the barrel. The green leaves and fruit also suggest Eden and the appearance of the tree of life in Christian culture. Only 88 fountain pens and rollerballs available, in opalescent white, azure blue, sapphire blue, opaque bland and red.

David Oscarson’s ninth collection of limited edition writing instruments is a tribute to Valhalla, the Viking paradise or otherworld where slain hero-warriors are sent for their eternal reward. In Valhalla, three Viking gods prevail: the Nordic Trinity of Odin, Thor and Frey. Each of the gods is represented in symbolic images and runes created with expert guilloche engravings in high relief on the 18K gold and 925 sterling silver barrels. Three colors of translucent and opaque enamel on each pen display the artistic mastery and technical expertise of the craftsman’s skills. After firing, polishing and buffing, a velvet finish is revealed on the hard enamel. The crowning touch is the 18K gold fountain pen nib, unsurpassed in quality and form. Valhalla also comes in a capped rollerball. Choose from three combinations: black, blue and white with rhodium trim (Odin), black, grey and white with rhodium (Thor), and black, red and white with vermeil accents (Frey).
