Fahrney's Pens National Handwriting Day Contest
To celebrate National Handwriting Day, Fahrney’s invites you to enter its 2013 Handwriting Contest.
The winner will receive a great writing favorite - the Pelikan 600 green fountain pen!

The purpose of National Handwriting Day is to alert the public to the importance of handwriting. According to the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association, National Handwriting Day is a chance for all of us to re-explore the purity and power of handwriting. WIMA sponsors National Handwriting Day every January 23 in conjunction with John Hancock's birthday. Hancock was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence and is famous for his large, bold signature.

Handwriting is one of the few ways we can uniquely express ourselves. Please take a few moments to express yourself in your own handwriting by sharing your thoughts on one of these three subjects:
  • Discuss the merits of communication with handwriting vs. emailing or texting
  • Write a haiku or short verse about handwriting and/or your favorite writing instrument
  • Talk someone else into using a fountain pen - why you like it, how it feels, how it affects the appearance of script, etc.
"Throughout history, handwritten documents have sparked love affairs, started wars, established peace, freed slaves, created movements and declared independence." Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA)

Handwritten entries can be submitted by mail, fax or email by January 31, 2013.
