Montblanc Great Characters Beatles 1969 Limited Edition Rollerball
The new Montblanc Great Characters, The Beatles Limited Edition is dedicated to the four musicians from Liverpool who, in just a few years, became the most successful rock band of the 20th century. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr released their first single, “Love Me Do”, in October 1962. It took the world by storm, starting a wave of ‘Beatlemania’ and a string of top ten hits. In America, the Fab Four made the charts with as many as 12 songs at the same time – once even occupying all five top spots.
In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as 'Beatlemania', but as the group's music grew in sophistication, led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, they came to be perceived as an embodiment of the ideas shared by the counterculture of the 1960s. The cone of the fountain pen is inspired by the button of the mixing table at the famous Abbey Road Studios, while the cap is inspired by the studio's microphone. The clip symbolizes the iconic mustache of the Beatles on their portrait. The barrel and the cap are lacquered with several metal inlays. Finally, the limitation of 1969 refers to the year of the iconic Abbey Road album. The“LMW28IF” refers to the license plate of the VW that was depicted on the Abbey Road cover. There are also additional British culture and icons, like the Union Jack symbol, which is connected to the “Her Majesty” song on the Abbey Road album. “come together” and “love” refer to the song “She Loves You”, it is the chorus of the song, but became an instant musical hook for this song.
