Montblanc 146 James Dean Lined Notebook
The new Montblanc Great Characters, James Dean
Special Edition is dedicated to the American actor
(1931 – 1955). He is remembered as a cultural icon
of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement,
as expressed in the title of his most celebrated film,
Rebel Without a Cause (1955), in which he starred as
troubled teenager Jim Stark. Two other roles that
defined his stardom were loner Cal Trask in East of
Eden (1955) and surly ranch hand Jett Rink in Giant
(1956). After his death in a car crash, Dean became
the first and only actor to have had two posthumous acting nominations. The overall shape of the Special Edition pen is inspired by the knife which Dean used in Rebel Without a Cause.
The engraved pattern on the cap and barrel recalls the jeans he wore in the same film; his red jacket inspired the collection’s color - Rebel Red. The clip pays homage to the shotgun Dean wielded in Giant. In a nod to his fondness for car racing, the James Dean fountain pen has a rhodium-coated, 18K gold nib engraved with a design of checkered flags and the license number of his famous Porsche Spyder. The James Dean collection also includes a twist ballpoint pen, capped rollerball, notebook with leather cover, and James Dean Rebel Red bottle ink, ballpoint and rollerball refills.
