We cannot tell a lie – our newest 85th Anniversary limited edition series from Retro 51 is one of our very favorite exclusives! We searched high and low for a unique and pleasing material to create our anniversary pens, and were thrilled when we were offered the wood from a reclaimed cherry tree on George Washington's beloved home at Mount Vernon. In 2004, Mount Vernon Estate began construction of its new state-of-the-art visitor’s center. The wood used to make our limited edition pen came from a cherry tree that had to be removed from the site. The tree was reclaimed by Historical Woods of America, and is now being used to create handcrafted, heirloom items including our one-of-a-kind writing instruments. Fahrney's Cherry Tree Limited Edition rollerballs have an extra-wide body, twist-top mechanism and warm antiqued bronze fittings. The cherry wood is of the finest quality and will gain an appealing patina over time. Each pen is totally unique and one of only 300 made for our 85th Anniversary Limited Edition. Fahrney's logo and the pen's individual serial number are engraved onto the cap band. The pen is presented in a custom-designed tube box; includes a vintage map showing the location of the cherry tree on George Washington's estate and a certificate of authenticity. Rollerball refill can be changed to a ball pen if desired.
