Product Description
Sailor Limited Edition Manyo Bottled Ink 50ml
Sailor continues to take inspiration from the food culture of Japan’s Heian period, as described in the Manyoshu, Japan’s oldest anthology of poetry. These inks reflect the colors of the foods that nourished both commoners and aristocrats of the era. Each ink is a beautiful nod to the rich culinary history of Japan, and just like the previous release, they are perfect for collectors, writers, and anyone who appreciates the art of ink.
While the regular Manyo inks are here to stay in the everyday lineup, these five new limited edition inks are available only for a short time and with a limited production run. So when they’re gone, they’re really gone!
The Limited-Edition Manyo Inks:
- AKA-MAI: The first rice introduced to Japan—Kodai-Mai (ancient rice). This deep, earthy tone is inspired by the rice that sustained life during the Heian period.
- TAKENOKO: Bamboo shoots. A fresh green ink reminiscent of vibrant bamboo shoots, which were a staple food and a symbol of renewal.
- KAKI: Persimmon. A rich, warm orange reflecting the sweet persimmons enjoyed either ripe or dried during the Heian period.
- URI: Melon-like cucumber. This crisp green hue captures the essence of cucumber, a refreshing delicacy in Heian cuisine.
- NOBIRU: Garlic with leek-like qualities. A rejuvenating green ink inspired by the Nobiru plant, which was believed to have energizing and vital properties.
- Each is packaged in an elegant 50 ml bottle with a uniquely designed label matching the food color it represents
