Pelikan Special Edition Souveran M800 Grand Place Fountain Pen
Pelikan pays tribute to the world's most celebrated places with the new Special Edition 800 "Grand Place" fountain pen. The Grand Place first made an appearance in 2006 as a Souverän 600 series. The limited production Souverän 800 fountain pen honors the breathtaking Grand Place, situated in the heart of Brussels' old town. The square is lined with old guild houses that have wonderful Renaissance and Baroque façades reflecting their glorious past. Built in the 15th century, the Grand Place became a symbol of the city's independence from the aristocratic government. Today, Brussels serves as the headquarters of the European Union, lending international flair to the Belgian metropolis.

Pelikan's Grand Place Souverän 800 captures the fascinating personality of this special place in glowing, complex patterns of brown, blue and cream cast resin set with gold-plated rings and accents. The oversize Pelikan 800 fountain pen has a masterful 18K gold and rhodium nib and a traditional piston-filler ink loading system. The Grand Place Special Edition is a limited production writing instrument - order early to enjoy this exceptional Pelikan 800 fountain pen. Bottle fill only.

"A Most Lovely Pen"
Overall

The filling mechanism functions smoothly and flawlessly. The precision of design/construction is quite apparent in the "feel" of this pen during use.

The resin body of swirling earth tones along with a deft occasional swirl of deep-water blue are most striking next to the gold plated accent rings, clip and strikingly crafted nib.

The large pen feels very comfortable in the hand, making cursive writing most enjoyable. As with all Pelikan pens, the nib glides smoothly and effortlessly over the writing surface.

Expensive, but well worth the cost!

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?

A memorable pen that should be part of every aficionado's collection. Named after the Grand Place in Brussels, so owning one is especially significant in light of the current tragic events of 21March16 in that European city.
