Product Description

Porsche Design P'3140 Black Rubber Shake Ballpoint Pen
Admirers of Porsche Design writing instruments value their clean lines, technical perfection and sporty elegance. The compact P’3140 Shake ball pen is activated with a brief flick of the wrist – flick again and it retracts back into the barrel. The comfortable, grooved grip zone is made of natural black rubber with chrome-plated accents. A sculpted “clip” at the pen top keeps it from rolling off your desk. Only 4 1/4 inches long, the Shake goes just about anywhere!

Amazing little pen - the rubber barrel model is best
Overall

This is a well made little gadget. The brushed chrome finish has worn well and the rubber finish is undamaged despite riding an my pocked for a few years. The "shake" mechanism works well too. I wondered when I bought it if it would get sloppy with use but it seems to be very well made - exactly what you would expect from Porsche Design.

There are several flavors of this small pen - carbon fiber among others - and they are all too slippery. The rubber barrel gives a perfect feel and they have managed to remove any "rubbery smell". It has a perfect size for a pocket or camera bag too. Of course, it uses those small refills and you can go through them quickly - my only gripe.

A quick shake to bring out the point and a quick flick to get it to retract. Nothing easier...

It's pretty expensive for what it is - a mini pen for your planner, pocketbook or jacket pocket but the coolness factor (hey, I love Porsche) eases the pinch in the pocket - at least for me.

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?

It's not the kind of writing instrument that could be your "good" pen; at least not for me. But if you are a car nut and like Porsches, I say go for it. That's what I did and I really enjoy using it.
