Overall This pen is superbly made. I did the engraving of my name on the pen. In fact, the worry for me is not in the quality of the pen but in the engraving. The pen, together with the beautiful engraving, makes this an object to behold and a joy to write with. The design is simple yet elegant. It is not the kind of attention-drawing design but it is subtle. I think the best phrase for it is formidably elegant. The grip section of the pen is excellent and the threads above it does not at all cause any discomfort. I am using the fine nib for this pen with Pilot's iroshizuku ink. Good flow of ink with some flexibility in terms of line variations as it is a 21K gold nib that has been ionized. Importantly, it is very reliable - no skipping at all. There is quite a price to pay but the pleasure it gives you when you use it or wear it gives you good return on your money for such a pen. Frankly, I have the KOP but I don't use it outside of the home simply because it is too big. The black luster is the right size for all the right occasions. What is your opinion of the quality of this item? It is a definitely a good buy.

Perhaps a hair shy of any other well known pens such as Mont Blanc Wonderfully understated and will not draw attention like a gold accented pen. The nib is flexible. I own a fine nib and a medium nib. I prefer the medium though because I can just get a little more expressive when writing and varying the width if the line. Worth every penny. When I first started using the pen and opening the pen to fill it the body felt a little cheap when twisting the threads but now that it has some use it feels silky smooth and of high quality. What is your opinion of the quality of this item? Really this is my every day writing pen. From credit card receipts to my favorite journal. Also, very important to use the Sailor Jentle ink in this pen. The coating on the nib of my fine nib pen did not like the Noodlers ink and the coating started to come off. Just cosmetic because the pen still writes well.
