Montblanc Writers Edition Daniel Defoe Fountain Pen
The Montblanc Writers Edition 2014 pays tribute to Daniel Defoe (1660-1731), the English novelist, pamphleteer and journalist who is best known as the author of Robinson Crusoe, the story of a man shipwrecked alone on an island. Defoe is considered one of the founders of the modern English novel. Robinson Crusoe marked the beginning of realistic fiction as a literary genre, and serves as the inspiration for the Writers Edition 2014. The pen's overall shape recalls a paddle raft used in Crusoe's attempts to escape from his island. The cap and barrel are made of precious black/brown resin with wood grain pattern and ruthenium-plated fittings. Crusoe's loyal companion, the parrot "Poll" is represented by the elaborate feather-shaped clip and as a fine engraving on the ruthenium-plated 18K gold fountain pen nib. The rings feature two different design elements: filigree typographic ornaments, resembling 18th century book covers; and the leather stitching Crusoe used to make his own clothes. Defoe's signature is immortalized as a fine engraving on the cap. The Writers Edition 2014 includes a piston-fill fountain pen, capped rollerball, twist ballpoint pen, and a three-piece set with fountain pen, ballpoint pen and pencil. Bottle fill only.
