The initials of both family names, ‘M’ and ‘C’, are engraved on the signature gold-coated cap top, while the handcrafted, solid Au 750 gold nib is embossed with the initials ‘R’ and ‘J’, the first letters of the lovers’ names. Cap and barrel are decorated with a delicate gradient lacquer running from pale to rich dark green and covered with a filigree signature gold-coated leaf pattern. Thorny branches coil around the cone and cap top, symbolising the pain of a love that came to such a tragic end.
