Product Description

Parker Duofold Historical Colors International Fountain Pen
Inspired by 125 years of ground-breaking history, Parker revives three of its most historical colors for the iconic Duofold: White Ivorine, Lapis Lazuli and the iconic Big Red. The Duofold range was launched in 1921, featuring a black model and the daring Big Red. From the start, the Big Red's striking, energetic color stirred the interest of customers (who were used to only black pens), and became a huge success for Parker. The Big Red remains the most sought-after pen in the Parker Duofold's history. The intense blue Lapis Lazuli was launched in 1927. A reference to the deep blue gemstone of the same name, Lapis Lazuli extended the Duofold to a lively and diverse range. A new material called "Ivorine" by Parker, was the first plastic used for pen production and made new finishes in white and even pastel tones possible. The 2014 Duofold stays true to its stylistic roots, with brilliant resin bodies accented in rich gold plating. The Duofold fountain pen is a cut above the rest with its large, two-tone gold and rhodium nib engraved with the Parker Ace logo, and a choice of two sizes: the large Centennial or the medium-sized International model. A twist ball pen with fluted cap and capped rollerball complete the Duofold Historical Colors series, encouraging you to write your own story - and much more. Cartridge/converter fill.

Overall

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?

I have the Lapis Centennial Duofold--I also have a white pearl International and a vintage blue stripe Duofold from the 1940's. The fit and finish are impeccable--I love the Ace of Spade medallion on the top of the cap and of course the true arrow clip! The Lapis has a deep glow to it and the gold-plated rings are superb. The nib is large and my fine writes more like a nice medium--flow is consistent and the writing is smooth, and not unlike a fine graphite pencil that you've gotten to just the right spot. Kind of reminds me of the Sailor nibs a bit. I love this pen! and will pass it on to my children knowing it will last. Oh, dealing with Fahrney's is a joy! knowledge and personality--with integrity! I'd pick the Duofold over many other hyped fountain pens.
