Stipula Vespri Siciliani Fountain Pen
Stipula presents the exciting new Vespri Siciliani collection dedicated to a great theme in Italian history and one of its most beautiful lands. The War of the (Sicilian) Vespers against the unpopular Charles I of Anjou began at the Vesper hour on Easter Monday, 1282, in front of the church of Santo Spirito (Holy Spirit) in Palermo, and quickly spread throughout Sicily. The war lasted for 20 years until the peace treaty was signed in 1302, and Sicily passed into the hands of the Crown of Aragon. Giuseppe Verdi, the 19th century Italian composer, was inspired by this heroic event for his lyrical opera “I Vespri Siciliani”. The opera was frequently performed, including the last public performance of Maria Callas at La Scala in Milan. Stipula draws on this rich history to create pens of rare beauty and warmth, much like Sicily itself. The pens are crafted in beautiful ebonite in striated teal green or polished black. The refined and precious sterling silver accents are engraved in high relief and enlivened silver w/gold plating trim. The Vespri Siciliani fountain pen has a steel nib which adapts to every writing style in regular or ITALIC MEDIUM points. Also available in a twist ball pen. Cartridge/converter fill.
