Product Description
Sailor Shima Kuwa 100th Anniversary Limited Edition Fountain Pen
In commemoration of Sailor Pen's 100th anniversary, they've released the limited edition Shima Kuwa Mulberry Fountain Pen. The Shima Kuwa is handcrafted from premier grade Mulberry wood from Mikurajima, a small island in the Izu archipelago which is famous for this very rare and precious natural material. Shima Kuwa Mulberry wood is often used in Japan for special gifts. A special design "anchor" clip has been commissioned for this pen - a symbol that is very special to Sailor. The beauty of the Mulberry wood grain is achieved using Fuki Urushi a deep burnishing process using Urushi lacquers from the famous Jouhou Temple. The pen is then decorated using gold powder Maki-e in the form of a wave pattern on the cap below the clip.
The 21K Medium solid gold nib is stamped with the 100 Years insignia and also shows the Sailor anchor with special draped chains. Packaging features a special silk cloth pen wrap made using Ushikubi - Tsumugi technique (a traditional craft in Ishikawa prefecture) and the black box is coated in Aizu Nuri Urushi. On the top of the presentation box is a Maki-e illustration depicting the original Hamada factory where Sailor began in 1911.
This Limited Edition pen is available in just 1,000 pieces worldwide, and each pen is individually engraved with the serial number on the barrel end. The Shima Kuwa fountain pen accepts cartridge or converter fill.
