Visconti Limited Edition Brunelleschi Fountain Pen Set
Always searching for new and creative pen-making ideas, Visconti wondered if it was possible to produce a pen with the material that best represents Florence: the Cotto Fiorentino terracotta. The result is a limited edition named after Filippo Brunelleschi, the great architect of the Duomo Firenze of the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, the largest brick dome in the world and a masterpiece of European architecture. Terracotta has been used by man for thousands of years; the Etruscans became highly skilled in its manufacture and introduced it to ancient Rome.
The Brunelleschi limited edition is an oversized, eight-sided pen accurately reflecting the shape of the cathedral dome. It is perfectly proportioned and the ideal weight for daily use. The pen’s material, a Cotto Fiorentino terracotta resin composite, has a dark brick color and many special characteristics. The color is similar to the red ebonite cherished by collectors of vintage pens. Unlike ebonite, however, the terracotta compound is extremely stable, will not dull with age and is considerably more shock-resistant. The pen barrel is simply decorated with a rose gold band, chisel engraved to echo the cathedral’s exterior. Visconti’s patented Hook Safe Lock system makes it virtually impossible to accidentally open the cap. Featuring Visconti’s super-flexible 23K 950 Palladium Dreamtouch nib and High Vacuum Power Filler, the Brunelleschi is limited to 888 numbered pieces. Its beautiful presentation case includes a crystal ink well, terracotta traveling ink well, eye dropper and a terracotta tile that says Brunelleschi. Bottle fill only.
