Delta Limited Edition Mapuche Silver Fountain Pen
The Delta Mapuche Limited Edition Indigenous People collection is a tribute to the inhabitants of the area of southern Chile and Argentina for over 12,000 years. They were the only indigenous group in South America that withstood attacks by the Inca and were never conquered by the Spanish. The Mapuche nation are settled and nomadic communities of hunters, shepherds and farmers. In 1881, after centuries of territorial and political independence, the new republics of Chile and Argentina instigated treaties that lead to the gradual takeover of the Mapuche lands. Today, the people's struggle to regain those lands and curb development continues.
The Mapuche pens are hand-turned from bars of grey and white marbled resin with solid vermeil accents including the band decorated with figures from the Mapuche flag, and the clip with a raised tribal totem, the Chemamull. Resin rings on the cap depict the colors of the flag and a medal in the crown is engraved with a Mapuche calendar. The Delta Mapuche Limited Edition Silver fountain pen is cartridge or converter refillable. This pen features a flexible, 18K gold nib engraved with a symbolic Lukutuwe. Limited to 1,541 pieces.
