Mount Vesuvio, Located on the Gulf of Naples in Italy, Vesuvio is best known for its eruption in AD 79 that destroyed the Roman city of Pompeii. Regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world due to its proximity to over 3 million people, it is the only volcano in Europe to have erupted in the last 100 years.
