Objectively a GREAT Pen
Overall

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?

I have not been a Cross fan for a number of years, but the Peerless model truly intrigued me. I was put off by the fact that this model is made in China, but excited that the nib came from Sailor. I need not have worried. I know the product origin is a little tough to accept, but if you look at this pen without regard to the country it came from, you would determine that it is one of the best pens on the market. Tremendous build quality, wonderful details in the design, and it is one great writer. Please don't look past this one...

A Pen that will win your heart and hand!

The Peerless 125 Special Edition--NYC is a wonderful fountain pen. I ordered the medium that writes on the fine to medium side--perfectly! the platinum plating on the barrel and cap offer a beautiful rendering of the Chrysler Building--one of my all-time favorites having grown up in NY. It also has a pleasing texture that you will just want to hold. Personally, I can write with the pen posted or not--I do not find the cap to make the pen too back heavy, but this is personal preference. The emerald-colored crystal on the pinnacle of the cap is brilliant. It makes me want to get all three of the great cities! That's not practical--nor economical at $625 per pen--but you know what--this pen is worth every dollar. Well crafted, fit and finish appear to be spot-on, and the Sailor nib from Japan is indeed a true Sailor delight. I recently purchased a Townsend in Blue Quartz, with a Pelikan nib, and applaud Cross for these partnerships. Well done Cross!

The rendering of the Chrysler Building is just stunning!

Some people prefer pull-off caps--I really like the threaded, screw caps for security, and simply find the un-screwing of the pen part of the experience--it offers time to ponder what you will be writing--I do have a few pull-offs that I use for the quick writing moments--but, I exclusively use a fountain pen.

Yes, despite the $625 price--I feel that one is getting far more than many of the top competitors for the flagship fountain pens. The regular Peerless editions are priced more in range--but as a former New Yorker City guy, I wanted the NY pen!

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?

This pen will rise to the top of any serious fountain pen users collection--right in there with my Monblanc, DuPont, Visconti, Parkers, Sailors, and Nakaya pens!
