The two-tone 14-karat gold nib glides across paper effortlessly, offering soft and powerful written expression. The golden decorative elements on the fountain pen, such as the iconic twin rings and quintessential Pelikan beak clip, are plated with 24-karat gold to emphasize the pen’s elegance and refinement.
This is the second pen in the Pelikan Art Collection series. Following the enormous success of the 2023 Glauco Cambon, we now present the M601 Art Collection Rudi Rother for 2025.
Rudi Rother (1863-1909) was a German painter and illustrator. In 1903, he won the coveted annual Pelikan art competition. This was one of Rother’s most significant works which he designed for Pelikan. The woman writing a document next to a pelican depicts a combination of functionalism and aesthetics that is typical of Jugendstil (Germany’s art nouveau movement). Rother’s talent at effectively connecting graphic design and fine art shaped the style of commercial art at the turn of the century. His humorous pen-and-ink illustrations garnered respect particularly in the world of advertising having a decisive influence on commercial art. His work was characterized by flowing lines, ornamental designs, and stylized figures. The pen is based off of his design and features an interesting shade of green resin for the grip section, piston knob, and cap. The barrel takes its inspiration from the pattern in the woman’s dress.
