As I suppose many of Fahrney's customers do, I collect fine writing instruments. I mostly collect fountain pens. But on one of the emailings from Fahrney's this pencil was featured. It looked so interesting to me that although I had no mechanical pencils at the time I decided to take a chance and I am so happy that I did! I have never seen such delicate beauty wrought into a sterling silver base. This is one of the most-detailed of the various Yard O Led (YOL) designs. Turning it slowly and letting your eye adjust to what you are viewing more and more intricacies become noticeable. Each pencil is an individual work of art. Literally hundreds of special markings are created and applied by craftsman who are likely to be the last of their kind. I had to research this further. The first thing I found was a YouTube video (Google for Yard O Led on YouTube) which showed the actual manufacture of this amazing beauty. Then I found articles on what the hallmarks mean and, that too, was quite interesting to learn! Although I have a few other fine mechanical pencils now this one is still the absolute star of my collection. Thanks to Fahrney for offering this and I can most heartily recommend it to all.
