I love this pen
By: Eric
Submitted: 3/28/2017
This pen was bought as a temporary replacement for a retractible from another company that had to go back for repairs. I have about 40 fountain pens and have used them exclusively my whole life, but several years ago went nuts over retractibles. I've been using my V Point a few weeks, now, and I flat out love the thing. The mechanism has few moving parts and probably won't lock up; if it does, it's inexpensive enough to pitch and replace, but I don't see that happening. In writing, I rate it comparable to my Mont Blanc Diplomat and better than my Pelikans.

Quality fountain pen that you will actually use
By: Sergei from Grand Forks, ND, USA

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?
This is probably the best designed fountain pen that can be used daily both for writing and quick note taking. This is the only pen that can be easily opened and closed, through a single click, with one hand. The flow of ink is excellent. The nib quality is excellent. My only gripe with these pens is that the black paint on metal parts peels pretty easily with daily use.
This is my third vanishing point and I am very happy with them. The reason why I only give them 4 stars for quality is because they do not last more than 5 years in my hands. In addition to peeling paint, the metal part that protects the nib cracked on all my VP pens by year 5. However, overall, there is nothing better on the market for a functional fountain pen.
The best design for actual daily use.
Extremely easy - it can be opened and closed in less than a second with one hand.
Yes.
Excellent. This pen will withstand several years of hard daily use. For this price, it is good.

Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point and Yama-Guri!! Great combination.

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?
Namiki and Pilot make the finest writing instruments int he world - as they should coming from such a calligraphic culture as Japan. The XF point, coupled with my Yama-Guri Iroshizuku ink does indeed make a hairline stroke with Naimiki's famous smoothness. And think, schools in the US no longer teach cursive! I guess some our great grand kids will be signing their names with crosses! Thanks Farhney for keeping the culture of the fountain pen alive. What a wonderful quality experience this was.
Design is superb - as is its functionality. The worst problem with a fountain pen is the ink drying in the nib. The vanishing point mechanism keep the nib moist - it ALWAYS write first time.
The Vanishing Point has the ease of use of the ball point - while retaining the class and the experience of a fine writing instrument.
I'd pay twice what I paid - it was a great value, as was every Japanese fountain pen I have purchased over the years.
Superb.

Best VP yet

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?
Excellent quality and performance
There is scarcely any metal in this pen (distinguishing it from other VPs), which makes it lighter than a standard VP, and I think more comfortable to use. (It also makes it look very good.)
Excellent.
Absolutely good value.
Completely satisfied, especially with its extra-fine nib, available only on this model at Fahrney's.
