The pen wrote beautifully from the minute it was filled and this ink is the most amazing color. As this is my first Pelikan I was unsure of what to expect as I own Mont Blanc's, a Sailor and and a Waterman. It is lighter but balanced well in my hand, and the nib was responsive and delivered ink fluidly (I was not expecting that). Color of the pen is also stunning. At this price you cannot lose! This is a very high quality item. The color is a rich red and would make the perfect gift for Christmas. I own the traditional, iconic blue Pelikan fountain pen and use it every day.
