Celebrate National Handwriting Day 2022 & Enter Fahrney’s Pens Annual Handwriting Contest!

This year National Handwriting Day is on Sunday, January 23rd. The first National Handwriting Day was in 1977 and was established by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association.

This celebration helps us to honor the importance of handwriting in our daily lives. Though our schedules may be busy and we may not hand-write as much as we used to, it is an important and integral part of our lives.

January 23rd was chosen as the date to celebrate because it is the birthday of John Hancock, first signer of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. He was known for his penmanship and when you sign a document, you may be asked to provide your own John Hancock (signature.)

The prompt for the Fahrney’s Pens 2022 National Handwriting Day Contest is ” Write About A Day that changed your life for the Better.”

Our contest will run through the end of January and a winner will be chosen the first week of February. Submissions must be received by January 31st, 2022. The winner will receive a Pineider Avatar UR Fountain Pen in Riace Bronze. To enter – must be in the continental U.S. or Canada.

All entries must be handwritten and can be dropped off at Fahrney’s downtown DC retail store or submitted by mail, fax or email to Fahrney’s headquarters by midnight on January 31, 2022.
