Fahrney's pen repair department is a full-service facility where minor repairs and adjustments can be made to fountain pens and other new or vintage writing instruments. However, parts are not always available for all makes and models, especially designer and "off-brand" pens or discontinued items. We are not able to provide replacement parts on vintage pens, broken vintage desk bases or broken nib points that require repelleting. Before sending us your vintage pens, it is best to call first and discuss your pen's problem with our Repair Department. We will make every effort to repair it at Fahrney's. If we are not able to service your vintage pen, we can refer you to another specialist.
Please check the Manufacturer's Warranty before sending your pens to Fahrney's for repair. Fahrney's will repair or replace any parts for the first 30 days after purchase. After 30 days, all warranties are held between the customer and the pen manufacturer for the length of the warranty. If you have a repair that falls under the warranty we suggest you send your pen directly to the manufacturer, who may repair or replace it at no charge. . If you decide that you want Fahrney's to handle the warranty work, our minimum service charge is $25.00, plus return shipping. Charges for parts from the manufacturer may be additional. Please be advised that repairs are done at the owner's risk.
We are happy to provide estimates for our repair work. Please send us a written note requesting the estimate. The cost for issuing an estimate is $15.50 per pen. If we do the repairs in-house, the cost of the estimate will be deducted from your bill. If you decide not to accept the estimate and ask for the return of your pen, we charge an additional $6.95 for return shipping.
If the repairs can be made at Fahrney's, allow 8-10 weeks. If the repair must go to the manufacturer, please allow 10+ weeks.
Sending Your Pen to Fahrney's:
1. Empty fountain pens of ink.
2. Send the entire pen.
3. Enclose a note stating the problem.
4. Include your name, address, daytime phone number and email address.
5. Package in a sturdy box to prevent further damage to your pen(s). We will send you an acknowledgment when we receive your package.
