The barrel with the white and violet stripes is made of cellulose acetate that has been very carefully crafted and turned to create this beautiful sleeve. All rings and the stylized Pelikan beak clip are plated with 24 carat gold. The fountain pen also features the patented differential piston refill system mechanism. The M600 special edition has a 14 carat bi-color gold nib with rhodium trim and available in 4 nib widths EF, F, M & B. The matching ballpoint pen utilizes a smooth twist- mechanism. What is your opinion of the quality of this item?
It is a beautiful pen. I expected that after my recent purchase of another new Pelikan pen. The extra fine nib is much broader than a Japanese extra fine, but I like having lots of different widths to choose from when I write.

Wonderful pen

What is your opinion of the quality of this item?
I have a few Pelikan 600's and couldn't resist this color. As with every Pelikan 600 I have, the nib is buttery smooth when laying down ink, slightly flexible, but not overly so. Inked it as soon as I unboxed it and it writes perfectly. I am using Diamine Sargasso Sea for the first fill as it's my favorite blue color (at the moment). The pen writes a nice line, not overly wet, not overly dry. There is a little feedback on long strokes, but that is good. I highly recommend this pen if you are a Pelikan fan, and if you are new to the brand, this is a great place to start.
